SPLAT Studio’s™ Throwback
Experience Retro Arts and Crafts from the 60’s and 70’s

Are you worried about your children getting bored this summer? Is your angst building as you consider that the kids may be spending their summer indoors pinching, flicking and swiping? While those words may conjure up all kinds of thoughts for parents, the tongue-in-cheek reference is about kids relying on their go-to-gadgets to be their best boredom buster.

In today’s world, technological know-how is essential for kids. Their computers and gaming systems are fundamental to their social and educational experience. However, wouldn’t it be nice to have them experience a throwback to an era where kids gathered together to make mud pies, catch fireflies and sit under the street light and tell stories until past dark before their parents would call them home?

This summer SPLAT Studio™ will be decked out and ready to move backwards in time when kids would “go ape” over the chance to macramé, decoupage and basket weave. The Retro theme will include both art and craft experiences and all the camps will incorporate the usage of art vocabulary such as the elements and principles of art.

The children will be exposed to the outdated style of art, design, fashion, games, TV, movies and music that was popular to kids of the 60’s and 70’s. They will be encouraged to look at and talk about the cultural genre of the gone by era. Through their observations of this type of art, the kids will be able to glean ideas that they can blend with their own style of art making; putting their contemporary twist on the project.
